Nestled amidst unspoilt landscapes of ocean, dunes, forests, and marshes, Village Kabana in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez is the ideal starting point for nature excursions. On foot, by bike, or even by canoe, explore the hidden treasures of the Vendée coast and immerse yourself in a rejuvenating experience, closer than ever to the local fauna and flora.

Hiking and walking: between dunes, forests and marshes
Hiking enthusiasts will be delighted by the variety of signposted trails around Village Kabana. As you follow the dune trail, you can admire breathtaking views of the Atlantic and breathe in the sea air whilst walking along sandy paths. The Bois de la Touche trail, meanwhile, will take you through one of the region’s most beautiful maritime pine forests, where the shade of the trees provides a pleasant coolness in summer.
For a chance to immerse yourself in the marshes, head to the Parcours du Marais Salé, a 5 km walk through reeds and ponds, where it’s not uncommon to spot herons and egrets.
Practical information: Marked trails of various lengths are accessible directly from the campsite. Remember to wear suitable footwear and to check the information boards at the start of each trail.
Cycle lanes: a paradise for two-wheelers
With over 350 km of cycle paths, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez and the surrounding area are a real paradise for cycling enthusiasts. The most iconic route is undoubtedly the Vélodyssée, which runs along the coast and offers breathtaking views of the dunes and the ocean.
For a more nature-oriented ride, take the marsh cycle path, which will take you to Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie through a unique landscape where lakes and small fishermen’s huts dot the landscape.
For families, an accessible route runs alongside the Saint-Jean-de-Monts national forest, allowing for cycling in the shade of pine trees, on a safe and perfectly laid-out path.
Practical information: Both standard and electric bikes are available to hire in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez and near the campsite. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and a picnic to make the most of your breaks in the great outdoors.
