The forests: a breath of fresh air in the heart of the Vendee
The forêt domaniale de Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, which stretches for several kilometres, is a haven of peace where you can walk or cycle. Composed mainly of maritime pines and holm oaks, it offers a beautiful diversity of landscapes and numerous shady spots perfect for a cool break on sunny days.
In addition to the signposted paths, there are several picnic areas, providing the ideal setting for a convivial moment in the heart of nature.
Practical information:Free access all year round. Option to follow waymarked paths for family or more sporting hikes.
The marshes: immersion in a unique ecosystem
Just a few minutes from Kabana Village, the salt marshes and freshwater marshes offer a fascinating spectacle. Between golden reflections on the water and migratory bird watching, these vast natural expanses can be discovered by walking or paddling.
One of the best ways to explore this environment is by canoë or paddle on the Marais Breton Vendéen, where you glide silently between reeds and wet meadows. For a better understanding of this ecosystem and the work of the salt farmers, a guided tour of the salt marshes is also available, with demonstrations of how salt is harvested.
Practical information:Canoe trips are available from Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie. Visits to the salt marshes are mainly in summer and must be booked in advance.
